Located in Gujarat, The Dwarkadhish temple, also known as
the Jagat Mandir is a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. Being a Pushtimarg temple, the temple follows the
guidelines and rituals created by Shree Vallabhacharya and Shree
Vitheleshnathji. It is believed that the original temple was built by Lord
Krishna's grandson, Vajranabha, over Krishna's original residential place. The
present temple is constructed in 15-16th century in Chalukya style. In the 8th
Century, Adi Shankaracharya visited the temple and it became part of the much
revered Char Dhaam pilgrimage.

Legend
According to the legends, Lord Krishna established his
capital at Dwarka on the bank of the Gomti Creek. Krishna's great grand son,
Vajranabh, built the present temple Dwarkanath. It is believed that the temple
was erected in one night under Vajranabh's direction by supernatural agency.
This temple is part of famous Saptapuri Yatra and Char Dham
Yatra.
Architecture
The current temple is built in Chalukya style of
architecture. The temple covers an area of 27 metre by 21 metre. The temple is
a 5 storey structure, made of limestone and is supported by 72 pillars. The
temple spire is 78.3 Metres high. The temple, though not changed dramatically,
shows the influence of different dynasties in its sculptural detailing
Culture
As the temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, the culture here
resembles closely to that of Yaduvanshis. People here live a life of piety.
Garba, raas, and butter stealing acts of little Krishna, are practised with
great religious fervour.

Darsan Dresscode
No imposed dress-code but devotees perform various rituals
in traditional attire.
As with most of the grand temples, it is a high security
area. Electronic gadgets are not allowed inside.
Temple Rituals
Dhwaja Aarohan It is considered important to enter and exit
from two dwars (gates) i.e. Swarg Dwar & Moksh Dwar Gomti Snan To complete
the pilgrimage, one has to offer prayers to the Chatur Vyuhas (Balram, Shri
Krishna, Pradhumna, and Anirudhji)
Special Rituals
Devotees may perform Dhwaja Aarohan by contacting the temple
administration. Dwarka is one of the Moksha Dham (Place of liberation) hence
various rituals for ancestros are also performed here.
