This Maserati Merak got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1979 Maserati Merak is an SS model equipped with its original 3.0-liter V6 and 5-speed manual transaxle. Finished in correct Giallo over a black interior, this is one of 312 Merak SSs produced for the US market. The car is described as a light restoration project that runs and drives but back fires and will need servicing prior to road use. This Merak SS is now sold with Maserati Classiche documentation, a Maserati Technical Certificate of Origin, Owner’s Manual, maintenance booklet, spare wheel and tire, leather tool/jack roll, and a clean Texas title.

1979 Maserati Merak SS

The Maserati Merak was introduced in 1972, while the SS model entered production in 1976 and is visually distinguished by the black grille between the front headlights. Styled by Giugiaro, the body is finished in Giallo (yellow – 5204305). Provided documentation shows the car was ordered new in SS spec, making it one of about 1000 delivered as such worldwide.

The original 2,970cc 90-degree V6 features triple Weber DCNF 44 carburetors and had a 9:1 compression ratio in SS specification when new. The seller recommends servicing the car prior to road use and states it runs and drives but back fires as heard in the video below.
