The Kuroshio Sea
Javanese cownose ray / Flapnose ray
- Reproduction Award
- Rareness:★★★★★
Found from coastal to near offshore waters in the tropical zones. In Japan, southwards of Okinawa. They migrate in large numbers and occasionally hundreds can get caught in fixed nets. It searches for its prey on sandy bottoms by using its double-lobed snout. Its underside is very unusual if you can see it through the glass of the aquarium.
