Gumby Okra

Gumby is our standby okra! This variety is very short and compact, making picking easy. It is mostly free of any irritating prickles or spines. The short stature and lack of spines makes picking this variety pleasant for anyone sensitive to okra plants like us! It is very precocious, blooming at a young age. This variety has performed well under our conditions. We originally received this from ECHO, who we are under the impression got it from Hope Seeds. ECHO reports it is a further selection of the variety “Prelude”. We encourage people to donate both to ECHO and Hope Seeds, both of which are doing incredible work in sustainable agriculture and poverty relief.
