DALLAS – Two familiar faces wrap up this season’s Conference USA tennis weekly awards. Rice’s Sumit Sarkar earned his third honor of 2019 following his singles victory over a ranked opponent. Old Dominion’s Holly Hutchinson notched her league-leading fourth honor after posting an undefeated week. All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Top of the World.
 
C-USA Male Athlete of the Week– Sumit Sarkar, Rice, So., New York, New York
Sarkar beat his fifth-straight ranked opponent and secured his ninth win in 10 matches with a three-set victory over No. 68 Ewan Moore of Tulane. The 41^st-ranked sophomore defeated Moore 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(3). Sarkar has won his last five tiebreakers, all against ranked opponents and four to clinch the match. His 16-5 record during the dual season at the No. 1 position matches the third-best win total at the first singles line at Rice since 1994.
 
C-USA Female Athlete of the Week – Holly Hutchinson, Old Dominion, Jr., Middlesex, England
Hutchinson, who is ranked 79^th in the nation, went 3-0 last week, notching a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory. The junior earned both singles wins in straight-sets over opponents from William and Mary and C-USA foe Marshall. Her biggest victory came over the 82^nd-ranked tandem from William and Mary. Hutchinson paced the Monarchs to a pair of wins to close out the season with a 17-3 record.
