The National Institute of Technology (previously known as Regional Engineering College) Tiruchirappalli, located in the center of Tamil Nadu on the banks of the river Cauvery, was established in 1964 as a joint and cooperative venture of the central and state governments with a view to meeting the requirements of the nation in terms of manpower in the technology sector.
