New Delhi | Jagran Lifestyle Desk: Hindus across the nation today is celebrating the Parshuram Jayanti with full fervour and joy. Parshuram is believed to be the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu beliefs, Parshuram too was born to destroy the evil just like the other incarnations of god. Parshuram emphasized on equality and justice and was defined by warfare and valour.
He is also known as Bhargava Rama, Jamadagnya Rama and Rambhadra. Born to a Brahman sage Jamadagni and his Kshatriya wife Renuka atop Janapav hills in modern day Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Parshuram worshiped Lord Shiva at a temple where he stayed, which was named after his father Jamadagni Ashram.
Today, Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Parshuram. Parshuram Jayanti usually took place during Shukla Paksha Tritya in Vaisakha month. To mark the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, Twiteratti shared pictures and paid tributes to the warrior of Brahmins.

According to the Hindu legends, Lord Parshuram is still on Earth as he is Chiranjivi (Immortal) and remains in meditative retirement. There are several temples of Lord Parshuram, like the famous one in south India at Pajaka near Udupi.
