Late poet Sugathakumari’s poetic career was dedicated to not only Malayalam language but also for Mathrubhumi weekly. Her literary career started in the 1950s when her poem was published in the weekly under the pseudonym Sreekumar.

Later, Sugathakumari started writing in her own name as directed by N V Krishna Warrier, then editor of the weekly. She has been publishing poems in Mathrubhumi weekly for the last 7 decades including the poem ‘Oru Pidi Kavithakal’ which was published in November last year.

Honouring the poet who dedicated almost all of her literary works to Mathrubhumi weekly, a special edition has been issued after her demise. The special edition will include Sugathakumari’s 5 poems, 2 interviews, 10 articles and some rare photographs of the poet.
