Mathrubhumi weekly Republic edition resumes with literary works from 22 languages

Kozhikode: Mathrubhumi weekly Republic edition which used to represent the Indian literature through translations of literary works from other languages is resuming publication after 17 years. The Republic edition includes stories and poems in 22 languages included in the Schedule 8 of the Constitution.

Stories penned in Kannada, Konkani, Gujarati, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Manipuri, Tamil, Sindhi, Hindi and Maithili languages, and poems written in Asamiya, Urdu, Odia, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Telugu, Nepali, Marathi, Santali, Sanskrit and Malayalam languages are compiled in the special edition.

The first copy of the Republic edition was handed over to veteran historian MGS Narayanan by writer Subhash Chandran. The 196-page Republic special edition will hit the stands on Monday. It is priced Rs 50.
