Changanassery: The sound of foot trinkets can be heard from Aravindam residence in Puzhavathil at 4 am in the morning. This is a habit Shalu Menon imbibed from her talented grandfather Aravindaksha Menon. She grew up under the label of the talented granddaughter of the talented dancer. Later, she went on to collect prizes at youth festival levels and started acting in the mini screen and big screen. However, her name was also listed in the controversial solar scam when she was actively pursuing her artistic career.
Shalu Menon said that she has been involved in the acting field for the past 20 years. The society will judge women on various other criteria irrespective of what they do in their career. She admitted that a lot of unexpected things happened. A lot of misunderstanding could have been avoided if someone had asked about what actually happened. A lot of people dragged me into the controversies without understanding whether I did something wrong, she said.
“Although I was sad when it happened, the truth is that it did not affect me much. A lot of people close to me were worried about whether I would commit suicide. Anyway, I remained brave due to the intervention by god. The lessons that life taught me changed me as a person."
“I used to be a naive person. I have changed that now. I have become more mature and a lot bolder. I have forgotten all the bad days. Now I am really busy with dance classes and my YouTube channel” Shalu Menon said while adding that her institute fared better than it did in the past.
She added that her days in the prison helped in molding her personality and that until then she had seen jail only in the movies. She spent 49 days in the jail. She said that she met all kinds of people during her stay in jail and that it helped her to start believing in all religions. “It was faith that held me together. The people whom I met shared their stories with me. I realized that my problems were nothing when compared to them.”
