Modern Nautilus Pompilius Striped Shell

Nautiloids are a diverse group of marine cephalopod. The existence of nautiloids began in the late Cambrian era (approx 465 MYA). While they have primarily gone extinct, some still exist today like this Nautilus Pompilius as well as the pearlized Nautilus. Nautiloid fossils can be found in seas throughout the world, but the modern nautiloids that we see living today are primarily found in seas near Australia and the Philippines.
