ARANMULA VALLAMKALI. This legendary snake boat race takes place on the River Pamba at Aranmula in the district of Pathanamthitta in Kerala. Held in the period of Onam it is connected to the ancient Aranmula Parthasarthy Temple. The race creates much excitement as teams of snake boats compete for the honours in a spray of water raised by the flying oars and the beat of rising chants.
