I have marked this as Sardinella longiceps. But this is larger variety usually told be fetched from Northern waters(Goa, Maharastra). Maybe just another fisherman's tales as during this pandemic lockdown period its difficult to get seafood from other states. This is larger than the usual size and not available in Kerala usually. In Kerala they call it 'Oman matti.' It can grow little larger than this. These are easily about 20 cms in length. Not sure why larger ones are not available in fish markets further south?
