Adah Sharma on the overwhelming response to The Kerala Story: ‘Our dreams have come true’

When asked if the actor had expected the film’s remarkable success, she replied, “I can’t believe this because I didn’t expect such a response, but all I can say is ‘Thank You’.”

“My dreams were always small, like wanting to play with an elephant or a dog, of course. I wanted to do good roles, but I never knew how many I would get,” she added.

Taking a dig at nepotism, Sharma said, “I consider myself fortunate. I never dreamed of something like this. I felt that it was not possible for a girl who doesn’t belong to the industry to receive so much love from the audience.”

“I am really touched to see that so many people came and watched the movie. I think our dreams have come true. When we started making this film, we had the thought of spreading awareness among girls. I’m glad that so many people are watching it now so they know what the actual story was about and what’s happening, which was kept hidden,” Adah added.

The actor concluded by expressing her gratitude for the warm welcome her movie received from the people. “As an actor, you always want people to see your work. I’m glad that I got such a chance. I used to wonder if I had to be reborn like Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Om Shanti Om’ to get such an opportunity in this life. But I got this, and I’m really happy that people are watching the film and giving so much appreciation,” she said.

The movie has entered the 100 crore club and has been classified as a blockbuster at the box office. ‘The Kerala Story’ was released on May 5, 2023.
