Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband Nick Jonas went through a tough phase as daughter Malti Marie Jonas spent 100 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit (NICU) after her birth. Recently, Priyanka shared how she thinks she won’t be able to maybe scold her daughter for anything as she has faced the fear of losing her several times. The actor also remembered waking up every second minute after she brought Malti home from the hospital.

Priyanka, who is busy with the promotions of her Amazon Prime Video series Citadel, said during an interview with Elle, “She’s got me wrapped around her finger. I don’t even know how I’ll ever discipline her because I just don’t have it in me. I was so close to losing her so many times that she can get away with anything, and I just want to see her happy.”

The actor had earlier revealed that Malti was born a trimester before the due date, and thus was kept in the hospital. Nick and Priyanka had announced the birth of Malti after she was discharged from the hospital. On Mother’s Day last year, they wrote on Instagram, “After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home. Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is.”

However, now Malti is doing fine and Priyanka shared that her daughter is a ‘happy child’. She said, “She’s a super smiley, happy baby, and that’s all my goal is—to see her joyous. Every time she smiles, it lights up my world, and that’s all I want to do.”

In another interview, Priyanka Chopra shared her and Nick Jonas’ first reaction when they heard Malti is going to be born soon. Nick held Priyanka by her shoulder as she was clueless about what to do. At that moment, Nick told her, “Just get into the car with me.” Priyanka told People magazine, “And we drove to the hospital.”

When Malti recovered, Priyanka and Nick brought her home but the new-mother was still scared to leave her daughter alone. She shared, “(In the NICU), you know your child is alive because you can see their heartbeat. I couldn’t sleep for days because now suddenly she was home without a monitor. I used to put my ear on her chest. I would wake up every couple of minutes just to see if she was OK. For weeks, this went on.”

After being a mother herself, Priyanka Chopra has also understood why her mother Madhu Chopra would ‘rip people’ if they hurt her. She told Elle Magazine, “I’ve seen my mom rip people when I’ve been hurt and I just never understood it. I was like, ‘Mom, chill out. What are you doing?’ Now I get it. I would take someone out.”

Festive offer

Meanwhile, Priyanka is excited about the release of Russo Brothers’ spy-thriller series Citadel, also starring Richard Madden.
