Vidya Balan, often hailed as the ‘hero’ of her films, is preparing for the release of Do Aur Do Pyaar, a story depicting a couple who find love after infidelity in a loveless marriage. During a conversation with the The Indian Express for their new six-part series, Expresso, Vidya opened up about her dating experiences. She revealed being cheated on by the first guy she dated, which deeply impacted her. However, this setback led her to gain perspective.
Speaking at the event held at Mumbai’s Taj Lands End, Vidya expressed how being cheated on, ‘crushed’ her spirit. Recalling the painful incident, she shared, “I have been cheated on. The first boy I dated cheated on me and I have to tell you he was just an a**. I remember we had just broken up and I bumped into him in college on Valentine’s Day and he turned around and said that ‘I am just going to meet my ex-girlfriend for a date.’ And I was like what? He literally crushed me that day but I have done better than that in life for myself.”
The actor added that she wasn’t a ‘serial dater’ and had only been involved with a few men. Reflecting on her past relationships, she said, “I wasn’t a serial dater. I dated a few men but thankful my first serious long relationship was to the man I am married to.”
When asked if she recognized any patterns in her choice of partners, Vidya Balan responded, “I was into a****. All of them seem like a**** in retrospect that’s the only pattern I can see. I obviously had a thing for them.”
The Indian Express group, HSBC and Taj Hotels have come together to build a unique platform- The Indian Express ‘Expresso’ with an aim to create content that is eclectic, intimate, intelligent and fun with personalities from sphere of art, culture and entertainment.
