With Japanese origins (sudoku meaning suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru or ‘the numbers must remain single’) the game requires you to fill a 9×9 grid with no repeating numbers in any row, column, or smaller 3×3 box. Requiring zero external knowledge to finish, sudoku is also a great number puzzle for beginners.
