‘The convertible I can afford’: Modified autorickshaw goes viral

Since being shared on February 22, the clip has amassed more than 1.1 million views on the Meta-owned platform. Several users poked fun at the auto. A user commented, “The Rolls Royce of auto.” Another user wrote, “The Convertable that i can afford.” A third user wrote, “1 Crore Target For kerala mvd can u help.”

Last year, an electric multi-ride passenger vehicle won the praise of business tycoon Anand Mahindra. The six-seater cycle was manufactured with merely Rs 10,000 and Mahindra touted the vehicle as suitable for global application.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court in 2019 ruled in connection with the alteration of motor vehicles that “particulars in the Certificate of Registration cannot be changed except to the extent of entries made in the same as per the specifications originally made by the manufacturer”.

The modifications should be in compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications and states were ordered to take necessary actions against unauthorised modifications on motor vehicles.
