Description :

The body has eleven to twelve pale golden-yellow stripes along body from behind head to base of caudal fin. A prominent red-suffused yellow blotch lies below the origin of lateral line. Pectoral fins are very long, reaching to or just beyond level of origin of anal fin.

Maximum length: 31.2 cm (TL), common length: 16-25 cm (TL)

Diet

Feeds mainly on small fishes, crustaceans, molluscs (mainly cephalopods), polychaetes and echinoderms.

Utilization

Marketed fresh, frozen, steamed, dried-salted and dry-smoked. It is also used for preparation of surimi.
