Comedian and self-acclaimed critic Kamaal Rashid Khan has claimed that the Kapil Sharma starrer is struggling to find takers.
Zwigato’, the Kapil Sharma starrer, has opened to rave reviews. Critics have lauded the slice-of-life drama, as well as Kapil Sharma’s serious turn as a factory floor manager, turned food delivery agent. However, comedian and self-acclaimed critic Kamaal Rashid Khan has claimed that the Nandita Das directorial is struggling to find takers, and the box-office prospects look grim for the critically acclaimed movie.

Taking to Twitter, Khan, 90 per cent of shows for this movie have been cancelled as the audience didn’t turn up at the theatres. Khan wrote, “Kapil Sharma starer Film #SharamKaro has got earth-shattering opening of 1-3%. While 90% of shows are cancelled because of no audience. Producers of the film fully deserve this, who tried to make a joker film star.”
The post was heavily trolled. One Twitter user shared a poster of Khan’s 2008 box office disaster ‘Deshdrohi’ and wrote, “Is joker se to better hi hogi” ( the movie will be better than this film). Another commented, "I don’t know about the collection of the movie, but it is awesome, only middle-class people can feel this movie, and Kapil's acting is much better than Deshdrohi.”
Earlier, trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed that the film distributors have decided to showcase it across just 409 screens across India and hailed it as a “smart move.”
"ZWIGATO’ INDIA SCREEN COUNT… Team #Zwigato has opted for a focused, targeted release of 409 screens across #India... Smart move by the makers and distributors for the critically acclaimed film,” wrote Adarsh.

At a time when only large-scale, spectacular movies seem to be working at the box office, going for a more limited release for slice-of-life, story-centric film seems to be a prudent decision.
