    Who is Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu? Know about Telangana's new deputy chief minister

    Veteran Congress party leader Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has been sworn in as the deputy chief minister of Telangana. Mallu, who represents the Madhira reserved constituency, took the oath of office earlier today. His appointment comes after his successful padyatra, a 1,400 km foot march across the state, which is widely credited for the Congress party's resurgence in Telangana ahead of the recent elections. He previously served as the Leader of Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Assembly during the BRS government.

    Veteran Congress party leader Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu today took oath as the deputy chief minister of Telangana that was formed in the year 2014. He represents the Madhira reserved constituency. Ahead of the Telangana elections, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu undertook a padyatra across the state and his 1,400 km foot march is widely credited, among other factors, helped Congress’s resurgence in the state.

    Anumula Revanth Reddy on Thursday took oath as Chief Minister of Telangana, becoming the first Congress CM of the youngest state in India. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office to him at the the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad. Governor Soundarajan also administered the oath of office to Gaddam Prasad Kumar as the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi were also present on the occasion. Governor Soundarajan also administered the oath of office to Gaddam Prasad Kumar as the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

    Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka was born on 15 June 1961 to M. Akhilanda and . Manikyamma. He is married to M. Nandini and they have two sons. In the previous BRS government, he had served as the Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Assembly. For the first time he was elected to legislative council in 2007 ( Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council) and then again in 2009. After the bifurcation of state, he became a member of the first Telangana assembly in 2014 and later also in 2018. He had also served as Govt. Chief Whip and Deputy Speaker in the Andhra assembly.
