A special ritual, ‘Dhwaj Pooja,’ was conducted at the Dwarkadhish temple in Gujarat’s Dwarka on June 17. A large number of devotees participated in the ritual. ‘Dhwaj Pooja’ (Flag worship) has special importance in the Dwarkadhish temple. A 52-yard flag keeps flying on this temple. The flag on the top of the temple always waves from west to east. It is also called the 52 yards’ flag. This is the only temple in India where a 52-yard flag is raised three times a day. There is so much reverence and devotion about this flag among the devotees that sometimes they have to wait for two years to offer it.
