I love this parish. The members are very kind and welcoming, the music is outstanding, and the pastors are all wonderful. Whether you are looking for a beautiful church service to attend while visiting Cincinnati or a parish to call home, I cannot recommend St. Xavier enough. I have found a vibrant community here, with many opportunities for enriching one's faith and serving others in greater Cincinnati area.

I feel badly giving such a low rating. Hubby and I have been visiting a different, new to us Catholic church with another couple for over a year. It's been very eye opening. I think that this church has great bones, but one thing that was distracting is the sub-standard way the beautiful columns inside and some of the walls have been faux-painted. At first we thought maybe it was done decades ago when faux painting was really big or they didn't have the budget for a nice job. In talking with a parishioner, it was painted after 2000 and he also mentioned that there has been an $8,000,000 redo of the undercroft, so they must have funds. It sounds very superficial, I know. I mentioned to another friend about visiting that church and she mentioned that she didn't care for the faux finish on the pillars without me mentioning it first. On the other hand there is some very pretty stained glass and period lighting.
It might be a temporary thing, but yesterday the sound system wasn't working very well so it wasn't easy to completely understand what the priest was saying. We all really tried to hear because it sounded like he was applying the readings to everyday life and that is something we can all appreciate. The person leading us in singing the responses was really talented. In looking at the bulletin it looks as if they are lots of way of be active with the other parishioners which is always a plus.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Cindy G.Cincinnati, OH257510236623Jun 26, 2012
This is the most beautiful church in Cincinnati in my opinion. The Gothic architecture is absolutely breathtaking. Come here for any special event or just Sunday mass and I promise you wont be disappointed.
A wonderful parish and a great piece of Cincinnati history.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nate S.Cincinnati, OH13816460Feb 10, 2014
This place is beautiful. Who knew there was such a magnificent piece of religious architecture in downtown. Even if you don't practice a religion, I'd suggest you visit this place - it's very traditional in it's design - not modern, like so many churches around.
The crowd seemed very accepting of new people. I am catholic, but I think it was obvious I wasn't one of the usuals, but that didn't seem to matter - very tolerable you might say.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dawn S.Salinas, CA31129318Aug 12, 2016
What a beautiful church. Aqua and cream. Peaceful and spiritual of course. We parked close and had a good amount of time to explore the space. Pick up the tri-fold pamphlet providing info on the church. It is helpful to understand the history of the church, and the art contained within its walls. Watch your step going in and out of the pews as they are slightly higher than the marble floor. This is an amazing and beautiful Catholic Church worth checking out, spending some personal time and saying a prayer or two.

Most delicious Eucharist in the tri-state area! Going for midnight mass tonight. Best bite and show in Cincinnati. Can't wait until Easter.

what a beautiful church.
what a TOLERANT church.
i am not a churchgoer, but my fiance, kt m., is and this is her church. and she's awesome.
the pastor, eric knapp, is just a really great man with a great vision for the 21st century. he is involved in everything good in cincy and his message is one of peace, questioning and tolerance.
this really is a great place and an excellent example of all that religion COULD be.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brian B.Nashville, TN208416Jul 8, 2011First to Review
Beautiful traditional Catholic Church. I have been coming here ever since I started at UC. I absolutely love that people of other Catholic Churches come here for ash wednesday and its just a very community driven church.
