Mitsubishi Corporation, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Motors and TVS Mobility sign an agreement to become India’s largest independent car dealer. The Japanese giant is all set to acquire 32 percent stake in the new formed subsidiary, TVS Vehicle Mobility Solution through an investment of Rs 300 crore. This new business entity will focus on establishing a comprehensive vehicle mobility ecosystem in India.

New Mitsubishi Models Coming to India

Mitsubishi X-Force

The company has not hinted at an immediate re-entry into the Indian market. We believe that new Mitsubishi products including the X-Force SUV and the new Pajero could make its way to country in 2026 through CBU/CKD routes.

This new partnership will help Mitsubishi expand its presence across India. In the future we expect this network to alleviate the burden on Mitsubishi Motors and encourage it to bring new products to India. While the company lacks production facilities in the country, we believe it could utilise alliance partners Renault-Nissan’s facilities for local manufacturing or assemble.

What is TVS Mobility?

TVS Mobility is an end-to-end mobility solutions provider that is committed to delivering world class products and services to its customers. The mobility arm of TVS Group operates 150 car dealerships for companies like Ashok Leyland, Honda, Renault and Mahindra in states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.

What does this JV Promise?

Mitsubishi TVS JV

Under the new agreement, Mitsubishi Corporation will provide integrated solutions across vehicle sales, operation of vehicles and vehicle-as-service (micro mobility). The new business aims to enhance the participation of Japanese automakers in the country. Initial focus will be to expand the sales network for Honda cars which is already a part of TVS Mobility. Additionally, Mitsubishi Corporation will negotiate talks with other Japanese brands to further diversify TVS Vehicle Mobility Solutions brand/model line-up.

According to asia.nikkei.com, “The cars to be sold in the dealership will include electric vehicles. Mitsubishi believes this will lead to more widespread use of EVs in India”.
