After various stages, the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014 bill was passed in Parliament in February 2014 for the formation of the Telangana state. Following parliamentary approval, the bill was sent to the President of India for his assent. President Pranab Mukherjee signed the bill on March 1, 2014, officially granting his approval.

As a result, Telangana became the 29th state of India, separate from the existing state of Andhra Pradesh. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government has planned a wide range of activities and released a 21-day schedule to celebrate a decade of Telangana state formation, with various cultural events, flag-hoisting ceremonies, processions, and programmes that highlight the achievements and progress made by Telangana since its inception.
