Mel hit baby: ex

Robyn Moore (Splash News)

The allegations against mad Mel Gibson reached a shocking new level yet yesterday — when he was accused of hitting his 9-month-old baby daughter and bruising her face during a violent rage at her mom.

Gibson allegedly struck little Lucia on Jan. 6, when he punched her mother, estranged gal pal Oksana Grigorieva, according to Radar Online.

The 40-year-old Russian beauty was holding the baby when the “Braveheart” star reportedly slugged Grigorieva in the face, knocking out two teeth. As he did this, he also allegedly hit the baby, bruising her chin.

Oksana says she has pictures of the bruise — which will likely become a key piece of evidence in the couple’s custody battle, Radar Online said.

That fight tumbled into court yesterday, as lawyers for Oksana reportedly called a hearing at which she asked to be given full custody of Lucia.

But the closed-door session — attended by representatives of the LA Sheriff Department’s special-victims unit and children’s services — may have given Gibson, 54, the first good news he’s had in weeks.

TMZ.com reported last night that the warring couple’s custody arrangement will remain the same, for now, with Gibson retaining visitation rights.

Lawyers for Oksana and Gibson didn’t return calls for comment.

Also yesterday, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said officers received CD copies of the now infamous audio recordings of the former “Mad Max” star using vulgar and racist language in rage-filled phone calls to Grigorieva.

An LA Children and Family Services Department hearing is reportedly being held next week with Gibson.

Earlier, Gibson’s ex-wife-to-be, Robyn Moore Gibson — whom he left to be with Oksana — filed a sworn declaration saying, basically, Mel isn’t such a bad guy and that she never saw him act violently.

“Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during or after our marriage,” she said, adding that he never hurt any of their seven children.

She also said he is nothing like the scary nut he seems to be on the audiotapes that started surfacing late last week.

“Mel was a wonderful and loving father,” she wrote in the one-page document, according to TMZ.com.
