Ride or die: Woman drives hearse, says it helps her nap in peace

When Hailey Rose drives by stunned onlookers often stop dead in their tracks.

That’s because her everyday motor is a secondhand hearse – with plenty of room in the back for the shopping and even space for a full-size bed.

On Tiktok, Hailey shares her experiences with the eye-catching car detailing everything from how many bodies it has carried, if it is haunted to her handing out sweets from it on Halloween.

The 22-year-old from Atlanta says she got the 1999 Lincoln Town Car Hearse after a pick-up truck hit her old car and she was out of work for two months due to injuries.

She wanted a car no one was going to miss, so her green hearse was ideal as she explained: “If they were going to hit me they were going to feel bad about it.”

Hailey said that she works in the theatre and film industry where they work really long days, so during her breaks she can take a nap in the bed in the back of her motor.

“It’s also just really cozy to hang out with friends back here.

“I am definitely excited to take it on a road trip one day,” she added, showing off her Beetlejuice bed sheets.

As she was getting a lot of questions about it, Hailey wrote on one of her videos: “Please refrain from asking me if I’ve ~done things~ in here and instead refer to my video titled ‘What Not to Say to a Woman Who Drives a Hearse’.”

“Just don’t make it weird, don’t make it weird,” she begged.

As for why others own the unusual vehicle, Hailey said: “People who own hearses, own them because they want to. They bought them because they like them.”

The welding fan says her hearse is not haunted and she has even decorated the back with strobe party lights and led light strips.

Her hearse was retired five months ago and she bought it from a person who works in the funeral industry.

So from the person she bought it from Hailey was able to estimate that her hearse has carried 3,300 bodies in the time it was in service.

She says it doesn’t bother her or creep her out but instead finds it “fascinating”.

As for using it to do supermarket runs, Hailey says she used to go get everything for a big family gathering.

In a video where she shows she can fit trollies full of goods in her car, she puts the eggs on her bed to keep them safe and says her hearse is totally good for getting groceries.

As she got her hearse just before Halloween, Hailey and her mum dressed up, put a pumpkin as a head in a coffin and put the sweets in there too.

Many fans saw the space as a great benefit, saying: “It would be nice to camp in.”

While another saw it as a way of living in a car, realizing: “It’d be perfect for the van life.”
