Cypraea Mauritiana (Humpback cowry) shell in metal circle
AN409
This Humpback cowrie, since it is its common name, is found throughout the Indo-Pacific area, from East Africa to Hawaii. When this seashell is active (mainly at night), its body -the mantle- covers the shell, sometimes entirely. Since prehistoric times, this shell has been used as an amulet or currency in many civilizations. And in this wrought-iron circle, it goes very well with the Cypraea Mauritiana, with a larger display circle, but equally doted(AN410).
