Soap nut (Sapindus mukorossi)
A very beautiful tropical deciduous tree with large leaves that grows in Asia, from China to India. The plant is interesting for its fruits-soap nuts, they are used as a universal detergent: shampoo, soap, Laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent. Nuts make the skin more soft and smooth, increase the resistance to infections. They are also used in Ayurveda for medical purposes to treat eczema, psoriasis, and get rid of lice. All in one nutshell, all from mother nature.

The species is an important plant in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of India, and is also grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, at an altitude of 200-1500 meters above sea level. The best results are achieved when growing in areas with precipitation of 150-200 cm per year.

Cultivation
Optimal seed germination temperature: 21°C

Seed germination time: 30-120 days

Seed planting depth: 25 mm

Illumination: Maximum

Remove the shell from the nut
It is necessary to scarify the nut: put the nut on concrete or other hard surface and hit it with a hammer. The idea is not to damage the seed, but to damage the hard shell, to soften it slightly. Otherwise the seed cannot germinate
Soaking of seeds. Boil the water and let it cool for 5 minutes. Pour hot water into a thermos and put the nuts in it. Close the thermos and leave it for a day
Take a large pot( the most important depth), fill it with soil mixture (in nature, the tree grows well in loam) and plant nuts at a depth of 25mm
Moisten the soil and put the pot in a warm, lighted place, but under direct sunlight. Germination takes from 1 to 4 months, during this time, keep the soil moist, but not wet
If you live in Southern regions where the temperature does not fall below zero, you can grow a tree in the open ground. Otherwise, replant the tree every year in a larger pot, bring it into the house for the winter. Have a good harvest of soap nuts!
