“Pune is divided into five different cities”- Raj Thackeray

While the development of Mumbai and providing facilities to people from other states the local inhabitant of the city was ignored and caused inconvenience. The same pattern is being followed in Pune city currently, claimed MNS chief Raj Thackeray speaking in a programme organised by the 'Indian Institute of Architecture' on the occasion of World Architects Day.

Raj Thackeray while addressing the attendees said Pune has been divided into five different cities, Hinjewadi is a different Pune, the Deccan is a different Pune, Viman Nagar is a different city and so on and nothing is connected to each other and has no significance with each other. Pune as a city has been demolished and the reason is that the political leaders of the city have ignored the situation. “Mumbai at least took a considerable time to be destroyed, Pune will be destroyed in no time considering the pace,” said Raj Thackeray criticising the current civic situation in Pune.

The pollution has increased drastically in Mumbai-Pune due to countless constructions in these cities. If the government and the politicians ruling these cities have a vision, it is reflected in the planning of the city. Numerous constructions like the coastal road, flyovers, and buildings are being constructed in Mumbai, who are these roads being built for? People living in Mumbai city or suburbs have not increased this population. Raj Thackeray criticized the ruling government on the issue of people of different states coming to Mumbai and Pune, "You are destroying the conveniences of the local inhabitants living here for the convenience of the people coming from outside,” claimed Thackeray.

“The condition of Pune will be worse than Mumbai in the near future, if you want to stop the plight of Pune, first stop the construction activities," Thackeray added.
