The Basic Design of a Matchbook Card

A matchbook card consists of a fold in the cardstock where the other side or top of the cardstock can tuck under the flap—just like the old-fashioned matchbooks! This element can be created on your card in a couple of different ways and I have samples of both!

Does the Special Fold Go On The Side Or The Bottom?

YOU get to choose! There is no hard rule on this so make this fold either on the bottom of your card or the side—whichever you desire. I’ve got examples of each so that you can see how both are made and how each card opens a little differently.

Add Decorative Elements to Your Card’s Interior to Complete Your Greeting Card.

Once the matchbook fold has been completed, it’s time to stamp the interior of your card and give the outside of your card a finished look with any embellishments you wish to use. When you are done with the design, add a personalized message to your card to surprise someone with happy mail!
