Soggadu Sobhan Babu

In loving memory of SobhanBabu (January 14, 1937 – March 20, 2008), I have launched “Soggadu.com” Blog. For those who are new to Shoban Babu, a leading Tollywood film actor, here is a small introduction.

Born as Uppu Sobhana Chalapathi Rao to a middle-class family, Sobhan went on to become a romantic icon and was the top Tollywood hero for two decades. He made his film debut with Daivabalam directed by Vasanthkumar Reddy, but his first film to hit the screens was Bhakta Sabari.

Shoban’s Manushulu Maarali ran for 25 weeks, a record-breaking achievement in those days. He received the Filmfare Award four times, the Nandi Award five times and the AP Cine Goers Award eight times. <More>

Sobhan Babu (People all over the world remember him as Soggadu) has been my alltime Hero since I was a Small Child. As I grew up several contemporary Heros emerged on the stage while Sobhan Babu took the dignified retirement, but I still continued watching his movies. In fact by watching some of his movies, I was highly influenced by the “values of Life, relationships, and family sentiments” that Sobhan Babu had exhibited through his movies. Often I lived myself in those characters almost as if the same were happening to me in my life.  His philosophical phrases, and approach to life gave me an immense confidence and indeed shown a right path.

I would like to share a perfect example of his noble life.
Millions of People all over the world missed him very badly when he died suddenly. The value of a Man is known only after his death- because of his deeds. When he was alive, he was quiet, reserved, and kept himself out of the glamorous film industry, and when he was no more, people from all sections of life suddenly rushed to see his dead body. It simply shows that people never forgot him, instead they became emotionally upset. And honestly for me, and many others he is still alive. I dont want to believe that he is no more. Often he sits with me, talks to me, and encourages me to do my best.

Due to my profession, I can not find too much time to write a blog like this, but I took all the pains to research, and post as much information as possible. Most importantly one can expect lot of links that can talk of Sobhan babu. Through this blog you can rediscover Soggadu’s evergreen life.

I want to thank Sri Srinivasa Rao Chimata and Sri Vijaya Bhaskar Tummala who launched “Sobhanbabu.com” for some inspiration to start this blog. I also give lot of credit to my younger brother Srinivas for his contribution to this blog. I intend to use this blog as a platform for Telugu people living all over the world, and freely exchange their views. Another purpose of this blog is to collect as many memories as possible from the ardent fans of Sobhan Babu and his family members.
