Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, who is suffering from bilateral pneumonia, has been put on a ventilator. He was admitted to Woodland Hospital in Alipore on Saturday afternoon. A team of eight doctors monitored him throughout the night due to mixed respiratory failure.
After contracting COVID-19 two years ago, he required a ventilator in the hospital. Subsequently, he developed an infection in his lungs as well. A doctor at the hospital mentioned on Sunday morning that the former chief minister was experiencing breathing problems.
Bhattacharya, who has been dealing with age-related ailments, had been receiving treatment at home. However, his health deteriorated on Saturday morning at his residence on Palm Avenue in Ballygunge. Following doctors' advice, he was immediately admitted to Woodland Hospital in Alipore through a green corridor in the afternoon.
