West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu engaged with agitating teacher candidates on Monday, addressing their concerns surrounding alleged irregularities in the recruitment process. The candidates, who have been protesting on Mayo Road, expressed their grievances about being denied teaching appointments for nearly three years, despite successfully clearing the recruitment examination in 2014.
During the meeting, the candidates emphasized their hope for a breakthrough and justice after a prolonged period of waiting. One protester highlighted the frustration of qualified candidates being denied jobs due to reported irregularities and corruption in the recruitment process.
The meeting comes after a previous assurance of justice given by Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee last year. However, the opposition BJP views Basu's interaction with the protesters as a strategic move ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing it as part of Trinamool's election-oriented efforts.
