Commonly known as ovulids, cowry allies or false cowries a family of small to large predatory or parasitic sea snails (due to their feeding behaviour). Ovulids are carnivorous molluscs that feed on polyps (the living organism inside corals) and tissues of Anthozoa. They anchor themselves to the coral using their long and narrow foot, staying in one place they live on and eat soft corals and sea fans that they inhabit.
