Suzuki Motorcycle India has had to halt production at its manufacturing plant in Gurugram, Haryana due to a cyber attack on its systems. Manufacturing has been reportedly halted since May 10, and as per estimates, the company has lost production of over 20,000 vehicles during this time.
Suzuki recently told its stakeholders that it has postponed its annual supplier conference that was scheduled to take place next week, owing to an "unprecedented business requirement" as a part of its efforts to handle the situation.
In an email response to ETAuto, a Suzuki Motorcycle India spokesperson said, "We are aware of the incident and have promptly reported the same to the concerned Government department."

"The matter is currently under investigation, and for security purpose we are unable to provide further details at this point in time," the spokesperson added. The attack's origin wasn't confirmed, neither is there a word from the company about how much time it would take to resume production. Apart from being one of the top two-wheeler manufacturers in the country, the manufacturing hub in Gurugram is an important export center for Suzuki's 2W division.

In the month of April 2023, Suzuki Motorcycle India managed to sell 61,660 units in the Indian market, earning a market share of a little over 5 per cent. However, the output could significantly reduce when the sales numbers for this month arrive, resulting in a loss of market share. Suzuki currently offers a host of products in the Indian market, ranging from mass-market scooters to superbikes.
