NEW DELHI. Weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong pitch for privatization of public sector units (PSU), saying that the government has "no business to be in business", nine bank unions under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Union on Monday started a nationwide two-day strike against the privatization of public sector banks and retrograde banking reforms.

The strike comes a month after the government shortlisted four mid-sized state-run banks for privatization, under a new push to sell state assets and shore up government revenues.
