Madhabi Mukherjee on why she said yes to ‘Borunbabur Bondhu’
Madhabi Mukherjee and Soumitra Chatterjee, whose glorious journey together started with Satyajit Ray’s ‘Charulata’ in 1964 will soon be seen sharing the screen once again in Anik Dutta’s ‘Borunbabur Bondhu’.
While Soumitra Chatterjee plays the protagonist Borun babu, Madhabi Mukherjee will be seen as a wife who sticks with her husband through thick and thin.
“I liked Anik Babu’s (Anik Dutta) vision and the way he explained the entire concept to me.
He thinks in detail, which helps the actors work easily. I don’t think many directors think in detail these days,” said the veteran actress while commenting on what prompted her to say yes to ‘Borunbabur Bondhu’.
She added: “Also, my daughter loves to watch films and write as well. She told me Anik babu’s ‘Bhobishyoter Bhoot’ was banned for political reasons, which I thought was an extremely wrong step by the government. Then she introduced me to him and, later, when he narrated the script, I found it to be quite an unusual story, which deals with a realistic issue.”
Produced by Surinder Films, the film also stars Arpita Chatterjee, Ritwick Chakraborty, Paran Bandyopadhyay, Sreelekha Mitra, Kaushik Sen and Bidipta Chakraborty among others in pivotal roles.
