The Marathi superstar, most remembered for his supremely comic performances in films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya,’ ‘Hum Saath Saath Hai,’ and ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’, Laxmikant Berde passed away at the age of 50 in 2004. He was suffering from a severe kidney ailment. Besides his successful stint in Bollywood, Berde was primarily a superstar in Marathi cinema as he virtually ruled the industry from 1985 to 2000 giving a string of blockbusters such as ‘Aamhi Doghe Raja Rani’, ‘Hamaal De Dhamaal’, ‘Ashi Hi Banava Banavi’, ‘Balache Baap Brahmachari’, ‘Eka Peksha Ek’, ‘Bhootacha Bhau’, ‘Thartharat’, ‘Dhadakebaaz’ and ‘Zapatlela’.
