PM Modi inaugurates airport projects worth Rs 10k crores; infra projects worth Rs 34k crores in Azamgarh

Indian aviation saw its first "super Sunday" as Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 15 airport projects worth Rs 10,000 crore, including the expansion of Delhi Terminal 1. He also lay the groundwork for 782 developmental initiatives totaling roughly Rs 34,676.29 crores in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

NEW DELHI: Indian aviation witnessed its first "super Sunday" as PM Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 15 airport projects worth Rs 10,000 crores, including the expansion of Delhi Terminal 1.
He also laid foundation for 782 developmental initiatives worth nearly Rs 34,676.29 crores in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
It includes projects in railway, urban development, road transport, and education, among others.
Addressing a gathering in Azamgarh, PM Modi said, "Azamgarh's star is shining today. There was a time when an event was held in Delhi and (people from) other states used to attend it. Today, the event is being organised in Azamgarh and people from different parts of the country are attending it."
Under the airport projects, new terminal buildings would be constructed at Kadapa, Hubballi and Belagavi at a total cost of Rs 908 crores with a combined passenger handling capacity of 95 lakhs per year.
As a part of the project, PM Modi inaugurated new terminal buildings at Pune, Kolhapur, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Delhi, Lucknow, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Moradabad, Shravasti and Adampur Airports.
With a combined capacity of 6.15 crore passengers per year, the 12 new terminals are being built at a total cost of Rs 8,903 crore.
Furthermore, PM Modi inaugurated the Light House Project (LHP) for Lucknow and Ranchi, which includes more than 2000 affordable flats with modern infrastructure.

Additionally, he dedicated approximately 744 rural road projects, worth more than Rs 3700 crore, constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, resulting in the construction of over 5,400 km of rural roads in Uttar Pradesh, benefiting approximately 59 districts in the state.
In order to boost railway infrastructure, he laid foundation stone for gauge conversion of the Bahraich-Nanpara-Nepalganj Road rail section and inaugurated a new rail line from Ghazipur City to Ghazipur Ghat.
It comes a day after PM Modi laid foundation stone for developmental projects worth Rs 55,600 crores including the inauguration of all-weather Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh.
