On Sunday, Mangesh Umale, a farmer from Kaulkheda Gomase village in Yavatmal district, ended his life. In his suicicide note, Gomase said he is a fan of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from a long time and requested him to visit his family members after his death.

The Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti (VJAS) has welcomed the Union government’s fresh announcement of a quantum jump in compensation and relief to farmers suffering crop losses.

In a sudden jump, five suicides by farmers were reported in the last 24 hours in Vidarbha reflecting the grim situation.

"As per the demand raised after joint survey by the revenue and agriculture departments, it was found that wheat, chana, orange, mousambi, vegetables in 1.06 lakh hectares had been hit badly by the hail and rains.
