Patalpani waterfall

Patalpani has been named so because of the local belief that there is a pit (kund) located at the bottom of the waterfall which lies as deep as the netherworld (patal). Picnickers and trekkers often swarm this 300-ft long waterfall. Patalpani has a railhead of its own, close to Mhow, and the route is a delight for the adventure-loving travellers. Since, it is gullible to flash-floods in the monsoon season, it is best visited between September and April.

Jaam Darwaza

The drive all the way to Jaam Darwaza or Jaam Gate is so scenic that it prepares the tourists for the wealth of visual treats that await at the spot. Jaam Darwaza is an old watch-gate where the clouds pass through the people standing close to it. From here, the farms, tiny villages, the lush green hillocks and the water bodies are well visible. The most appealing aspect of this place is the waterfall and the intense peace pervading the air.

Kala Kund

Close to Mhow is the beautiful hamlet of Kala Kund. It has been named for its mystical topography that gives it an appearance of a reservoir (kund) placed in the middle of towering mountains. When the backdrop of mountains is lit by light or lightening, the village resembles a fire-lit kund. The river Choral flows through this village which has less than 100 homes and almost nil guest houses. The sweetmeat Kalakand sold by Dubeyji, a local vendor, at the railhead is one of the best souvenirs tourists can take home.
