India is a beautiful country and we can’t say this enough! Speaking of beauty, let’s talk about flowers. Did you know that India has some of the most beautiful flower valleys in the world? This is possible because India enjoys a very favourable climate and altitude for these blooms. From north to south, and east to west, there are these flower valleys full of pretty wildflowers, always ready to welcome us with some of the most beautiful sights.

Valley of Flowers National Park, Uttarakhand

When you plan a trek to the Valley of Flowers, you expect to see, as the name suggests, a valley of flowers. And that’s exactly what you get. Located in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, the Valley of Flowers is also a very important biodiversity site. The valley supports a number of native plant species which are very important for the ecosystem. The Brahmakamal bloom, blue Himalayan poppy, and Himalayan maple are the show stoppers here.

Dzukou Valley, Nagaland-Manipur

Dzukou Valley shares its geographical area with the two states of Nagaland and Manipur. It is fast becoming one of the most visited attractions in Northeast India. The valley is loved by all for its exciting (and sometimes difficult) trekking routes, unmatched natural beauty, and great camping locations. In springtime, the valley turns into a riot of colours with so many wild flowers blooming everywhere.

Kaas Plateau, Maharashtra

If a flower valley gets recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, then there must be something special about that place. And the Kaas plateau is indeed special. Located just outside Satara in Maharashtra, Kaas is an important part of the Western Ghats. From August to early October, the plateau turns into a beautiful and colourful canvas.

Eravikulam National Park - Munnar, Kerala

Just 20 minutes from Munnar is Eravikulam National Park, famous for neelakurinji flowers which bloom once in 12 years. Nilgiri Mountain range gets its name from this flower. When they bloom, the entire valley is bathed in purple colour. Neelakurinji is a speciality of the shola forest that is spread across the Western Ghats region of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Yumthang Valley, Sikkim

Yumthang Valley sits pretty at the base of Mount Kanchenjunga. It is famous among domestic as well as international travellers for its scenic beauty. The view of Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, is unmatched. The valley gets covered with wild flowers like primrose and cobra lily, and rhododendrons. From late February to mid-June, the valley stays covered with colourful blooms.
