Jallianwala Bagh
April 13th, 1919, is a sad day in the history of the city. The Jallianwala Bagh gardens were witness to the massacre of 1579 unarmed and unsuspecting people including women and children, when the British Indian Army soldiers opened fire on orders of General Dyer. This act marked the beginning of the end of British reign in India. It is almost impossible to keep your eyes from clouding over as you look around and see the scars of bullet holes in the walls and the well into which many jumped in an attempt to shield themselves from the firing.
