Pratyusha Banerjee, who shot to fame as Anandi from the popular TV serial Ballika Vadhu, breathed her last yesterday, which came as a shock to everyone. She committed suicide!

The talented actress who seemed to have a budding career took away her life at the age of 24 by hanging herself at her Mumbai residence. She was rushed to Kokilaben Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Reasons for Pratyusha’s suicide remains under a mysterious wrap but most probably her love life had a role to play. Her relationship with boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, who recently appeared with her on ‘Power Couple’ in Sony, was rumoured to be on the edge. Has this led her to end her life? She carried the secret with her.

Former model Priyanka Kapoor

Just last Saturday, ex-model Priyanka Kapoor committed suicide at her fancy apartment in South Delhi’s Defence Colony. The 25 year old model left a suicide note that revealed her husband of just one month used to beat her like a ‘devil’. She was victimized to such domestic violence due to dowry.

Priyanka’s husband, Nitin Chawla, a businessman who owns many pubs in Delhi, has been arrested on dowry charges.

 Actor Jiah Khan

Known for her bold beauty, actor Jiah Khan was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her Juhu residence on June 3, 2013. Her sour relationship with Sooraj Pancholi is believed to be the reason behind her suicide.

Jiah Khan’s first film was opposite the legend Amitabh Bachchan in Nishabd and she was also seen in Ghajini and Housefull.

Model Viveka Babajee

Supermodel Viveka Babajee ended her life on the dark night of June 25, 2010 at her Bandra apartment. Different reasons from professional downfall to unsuccessful love life to financial crisis have been assumed to force her to take this step.

Model and actor Kuljeet Randhawa

Model-cum-actor Kuljeet Randhawa, who starred in TV serials like Hip Hip Hurray, Special Squad and CATS, committed suicide on February 8, 2006.

In her suicide note, Kuljeet stated that it was getting difficult for her to cope with the pressures of life.

Former Miss India Nafisa Joseph

A few years earlier, late Kuljeet Randhawa’s friend and co-star from CATS, Nafisa Joseph died by hanging herself. Crowned Miss India Universe in 1997, Nafisa was also a popular MTV VJ.

The reason for suicide might be her rocky personal life. Nafisa called off her wedding on learning that her fiancé businessman Gautam Khanduja was already married.

 Argument lies on the ground if the entertainment and glamour industry generates suicidal instincts. The pressure and vulnerability of the industry is so much that these charming women had to choose the unnatural way to bid adieu to the world. May their souls rest in peace!
