By The Kottukkal Cave Temple is situated in Kottukkal Village near Anchal in Kollam District of Kerala. It is 45 km from Kollam to Kottukkal Cave Temple. The temple is built in the rock-cut style of architecture that was common between the 6th and 8th centuries. The main deity of the temple is Shivalinga. The temple construction is such that it has 2 caves. Between the caves, there is the idol of Ganapathi, the image of Hanuman in the small cave, and the statue of Nandhi, Lord Shiva’s mount, in the large cave. There is no other place is India where Shivalingam, Nandhi, and Hanuman come together. The temple stands in the middle of an extensive green paddy field. From a distance, it looks like an elephant sleeping in a paddy field. There are lot of travelers visiting this place, like students of architectural courses, tourists, and devotees.
