With the support of the BJP and Congress party, Abdul Kalam was elected as the 11th president of India in the year 2002.

Dr Abdul Kalam’s award is given by the Tamilnadu government and his birthday is considered as World Students’ Day.

His dream was to become a fighter pilot but he missed the opportunity as he had secured the 9th rank and there were only 8 seats available in IAF.

He was the mastermind behind the Agni and Prithvi missiles, hence known as the ‘Missile Man.’

Abdul Kalam's national memorial was built in Tamilnadu at his native place Rameshwaram. It was built by DRDO.

He was a legend with 7 honorary doctorates from 40 universities and was honoured with awards like Padmavibhushan, Padmabhushan, etc.

He wrote around 25 books such as Wings of Fire, The Mission of India, India 2020 and more.

His autobiography 'Wings of Fire' was first published in English and later, it was published in 13 different languages.
