Grab your beret, Chanel purse, and baguette, because we're heading back to France! Emily in Paris is coming back so soon — and from the looks of it, Ms. Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) is going through some stuff. As in cutting-her-own-bangs stuff. Emily, are you OK?
When we last saw Emily, she was torn between longtime flame Gabriel and new romance Alfie and caught in the middle of a big career choice; should she stick with her American boss Madeline, played by Kate Walsh, or take a leap of faith and join forces with the hard-to-please Sylvie, who started her own agency? It makes total sense that our favorite American girl in Paris would be standing in front of the mirror, scissors in hand, about to chop some bangs. In the season three teaser trailer, she's doing exactly that.
"This is the hardest decision I have ever had to make," Emily says in the trailer as we see pictures of Gabriel, Alfie, Madeline, and Sylvie flash before her. "This is just something I have to do." Et voila! Bangs! Our heroine makes the chop, much to her BFF Mindy's dismay. "Emily, no!" she gasps upon seeing her friend's new fringe. But hey, as Emily says, "It's Paris!"
Sure, they're emotional panic bangs, but we've all been there — and they look great on Collins-as-Emily. Honestly, it's kind of a wonder Emily didn't already have bangs, given her Parisian-inspired style and Audrey Hepburn-for-2022 vibe. We get a few peeks at the styled, brow-brushing bangs in the rest of the teaser, and they look sleek and chic when paired with updos, curls, and Emily's signature bright lipstick. Collins herself has been rocking bangs recently too, likely inspired by her character's new look.
The trailer pokes fun at the "Should I get bangs?" meme several times, including when Emily's ex-flame Gabriel asks if she's doing OK. "They're just bangs!" she cries. "Sometimes people cut bangs when everything's fine!" Everything is obviously not fine for Emily in saison trois of the Netflix series, but thankfully the bangs aren't one of those things. We can't wait to see the exploits of Collins and her costars (and the always-major beauty and fashion moments) when Emily in Paris returns on December 21.
