Dr. Virinder Chaudhery was possibly the first Indian immigrant artist who developed his unique indo-western style of art in America from the 1970s onwards. He was greatly inspired by Monet, Matisse, Picasso, Braque, and later the Hudson River Valley artists. But his heart always carried India's colors, spirit, rhythm, and music, which he captured through his artistic themes. He trained under Lois Mailou Jones and James A. Porter at Howard University and then under Emil Weddige at University of Michigan. He received his doctorate in Fine Arts from University of Michigan. Sadly, he passed away in 2016.
