    Suzuki Motorcycle India resumes manufacturing at Haryana plant

    • Operations have commenced after receiving permission from concerned authorities

    • Suzuki Motorcycle India will resume operations with a limited workforce

    Ensuring the implementation of stringent safety norms and the social distancing guidelines directed by the government of India, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler Indian subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, resumed production at its manufacturing facility at Kherki Dhaula (Haryana), Gurgaon, today.

    SMIPL says it has commenced the operations after receiving permission from the concerned authorities. The company has adopted detailed safety guidelines and safety measures for its employees.

    Suzuki Motorcycle India states that after closely monitoring the situation to avoid any kind of COVID-19 spread, it has charted detailed guidelines for all its employees. These include social distancing, wearing masks, periodic sanitisation and avoiding movement in large groups, among others. It has also installed a disinfectant chamber for individuals to pass through every day to prevent spread of infection and maintain a safe working environment for its employees.

    Koichiro Hirao, MD, Suzuki Motorcycle India said, “As Suzuki Motorcycle India restarts its plant operation, our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees since we continue to fight the battle against COVID-19. At the onset, SMIPL will resume operation with a limited workforce and will gradually shift to full production cycle as per the government’s directive. We have implemented detailed operating guidelines with an emphasis on social distancing to ensure maximum precautions are taken by all our employees. In order to overcome the challenges faced due to the ongoing situation, we also believe that it is necessary that we all stay together in high spirits by continuing to motivate each other.”

    The OEM says it had suspended plant operations from March 23, 2020 under the government’s directives to follow the nationwide lockdown due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
